Codes & Ordinances
The Town of Dumfries is governed by a code of ordinances as adopted and amended by the Town Council. Virginia municipalities are also governed by certain sections of the state code, including but not limited to Title 15.2. In addition the town is required to abide by and enforce state and international building codes.

The Town Council may amend the Town Code by adopting new ordinances or by amending or repealing current ordinances.
