Prince William County Services

 

While some services are provided to town citizens by the Town of Dumfries, there are a number of services that are provided by Prince William County.

Animal Control
The Prince William County Police Department’s Animal Control Bureau is responsible for the Animal Shelter. In addition, the Bureau enforces animal welfare laws, conducts animal education seminars, houses stray and unwanted animals in a clean and safe environment and coordinates the adoption of animals.

Dog Registration
All dogs four months of age or older must be licensed each year by January 31.  Dog licenses go on sale in November for the coming year and may be purchased by mail, at the Animal Shelter, downloaded from the County Web site at Dog License Application Form or from any PWC Taxpayer Services Office. The fee is $5.00 per dog. A current rabies vaccination certificate must be shown for each dog to be licensed. Persons moving into the County must comply with the license requirements at that time.

Clerk of Circuit Court
The Clerk of Circuit Court is a constitutional officer elected every eight (8) years. The Clerk serves the citizens of the County of Prince William and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.  This office is responsible for concealed handgun permits, deeds and land records, divorce decrees, marriage licenses; probates, estates and wills; mechanics liens and trade names, in addition to maintaining county records.  Visit the  Clerk of the Circuit Court online for more information or call 703-792-6015.

Community Services
Community Services is a public agency that provides a variety of adult mental health, intellectual disability, adult substance abuse, youth mental health and substance abuse, early intervention (infants and toddlers), emergency services, psychiatric services and medical management for the citizens of Prince William County and cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.  Visit the PWC Community Services Department online for more information or call 703-792-7800 (Manassas) / 703-792-4900 (Woodbridge).

Education

General District Court
Prince William County General District Court judges conduct hearings for civil, traffic, and criminal misdemeanors, and preliminary hearings for felony cases.  Case information can be found online through the Virginia Judicial System.  Visit the PWC General District Court online for more information or call 703-792-6141.

Health Department
The Health Departments mission is to promote optimum health and the adoption of healthful lifestyles; to assure access to health information, health maintenance, and preventive health; to assist Prince William County, Manassas City, and Manassas Park in emergency preparedness efforts. Social Services
The Department provides County residents with a range of services, including employment and support, child welfare, and adult and residential youth programs. The Department also provides County citizens with mandated services, including Child and Adult Protective Services, Food Stamps, Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.  Visit the Department of Social Services online for more information or call 703-792-7500.

Voter Registration
