Go Green Virginia is an initiative of the Virginia Municipal League (VML) that encourages local governments to reduce energy use and promote sustainability.

Government Challenge

The Green Government Challenge is a friendly competition designed to encourage implementation of specific environmental policies and practical actions that reduce the carbon emissions generated by both the local government and the broader community.  Cities, towns & counties can become a certified “Green Government.”  Many of these actions can save local governments money.

The Town of Dumfries is competing in the challenge to be certified as a “Green Government” for 2011.
