We are responsible for carrying out the vision and goals set by the Mayor and the Town Council in promoting sustainable and positive growth that will ensure the Town of Dumfries is a vibrant community for years to come.
The department works closely with developers to make sure projects meet the criteria and regulatory policies established by the Town Council.
We also provide planning services related to development, zoning, land use issues, and building code enforcement and inspections, including but not limited to:
- Zoning Changes
- Conditional Use Permits
- Site Plan (development) Reviews
- Variances and Exceptions
- Platting or Replatting of Land
- Setback Requirements
We encourage you to call our office at 703-221-3400 before starting any land development projects, construction (interior and exterior), or demolition so we may properly advise you on the required permits and procedures necessary to move forward with your project.
