Weather Forecast –

Dry and calm weather continues through tomorrow.

Sunday-Monday
Forecast models are coming into better agreement with Sunday's strong coastal storm, keeping it just offshore. The low pressure will not develop in the Gulf until tomorrow, while a trough is currently over the central US moving eastward. This trough will help lift and deepen the coastal low bringing widespread rain and breezy conditions to much of the East Coast.

We have increased our operational threat to a moderate outage threat for southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina from 8:00pm Sunday – 10:00am Monday. Areas at greatest risk include Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Outer Banks, eastern Elizabeth City, and eastern Albemarle County, North Carolina. Active outage conditions are likely across the rest of our service territory.

We expect showers will move northward into our territory late Sunday morning, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the afternoon, evening, and overnight hours. Showers will continue through Monday morning with most dry by afternoon. Widespread 2-3 inches of rain is likely.

Breezy weather will develop on Sunday evening. Sustained winds of 15-25 mph with gusts of 35-45 mph are possible across our territory.
